July Newsletter

We have been working hard for the club behind the scenes and have made great strides to improve what we have established. The month of July has been busy for us and we are getting even closer to beginning work on the new track at the Thornhill Community Grounds!

This month has been interesting and a lot of fun to say the least. We have been discussing various topics and making decisions based on what we the directors think is best for the Club. That's not to say we don't want the opinions of our members, but we are still new at this game and it will take a bit of time to get our plans in motion. So lets take a look at all that happened this month!

It's Official!

We received our Society papers and officially became the Northwest RC Club! Very exciting news to say the least. Thanks to Jeremy for taking on the legalities and getting our club up and running.

Race Day (July 11th)

We had yet another very successful race day. The weather was great and we saw a lot of smiles from everyone. Every class was great to watch and everything went quite smooth as far as we could see. There was everything from the carnage and crashing of the shortcourse B-Main to the precision and high speeds of the 1/8th buggies. All of this as well as great sportmanship contributed to a awesome day!

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Earlier this month Rod decided that it was time for a tweak to the driver stand. We added a fresh coat of solid stain and some stairs leading up to the top of the stand for convience. The stairs will provide safety especially for the young ones as well as make it easier to go up and down the stand instead of trying to manoever your way up the ramp and possibly slipping. We also added a little railing which should prove useful if your arms begin to weaken with all the rc action. There is also a tent at the top of the stand to provide shade from either rain or direct sunlight. Further ideas are being discussed but nothing else to report at this time.

Bank Account

Our most recent activity would be creating an account to store the funds we receive to provide the club with more goodies. The most obvious one being the new track in Thornhill. This account will make transactions far easier for the club and allow us to purchase what we need without worrying about losing any of it!

In Other News....

We are making progress on getting the new track started out in Thornhill. We are still in discussion about what needs to be done to get everything up and running. This stuff takes time...

We have scheduled practice days for every Wednesday in the evening for members looking to come test their trucks. This is subject to change depending on things that may come up.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this and familiarize yourself with the club. We hope to see you at the next race!

If you would like to become a member, please speak with us either through facebook or talk to Jon at Creative Zone in Terrace.

We want to thank each and every one of you for participating and enjoying the race days as well as showing sportsmanship and good behavior. This club is family oriented and we love to see not only adults, but youth enjoying themselves. After all, this hobby is all about fun and we have already had our share of experiences from just the short amount of time we have been established.
